Ability to set maximum State of Charge

I have integrated my car in the Monta portal and I can see the state of charge.
If I want to alter the maximum state of charge it says it cannot be changed as it is defined by the car.
This wonders me? Why can't I set the maximum state of charge and when that point is reached the portal can set the charger to pause (by OCCP pause command).
This would be a very useful feature as it is not always needed to fully charge the car battery.
What is the rationale of not being able to change this value?
